Fate, Luck or Fortune?
My favorite British transvestite comedian Eddie Izzard is coming to Seattle to perform 2 shows in the very intimate Seattle Rep Theater this weekend only. I have often lamented why he only gigs in LA these days but finally he's going to make it all the way up to Seattle. I purchased tickets online the minute they went on sale a few weeks ago and despite the Seattle Rep server being a little slow, I got the tickets. I was going to go with Amy who love Eddie as much as I do. We were going to eat Thai food before the show because Amy is the only person I know who puts soy sauce on Phad Thai and I wanted to see her do that before she leaves for 3 months for her new job in Amsterdam. But unfortunately she's been called to Amsterdam this weekend by her work & can't get out of it.
On top of that, I called Seattle Rep earlier today to ask when my Eddie tickets would be arriving. I gave the gal my order number but she couldn't find it. We went through everything but I still didn't show up in the system--even though I had an email receipt of buying the tickets.
It turns out that the order server kept crashing that first day due to the huge numbers of people also wanting Eddie tickets. So I shouldn't have even received an order number at all because the tickets didn't actually get purchased.
Both shows are now of course sold out.
BUT...
Someone happened to return 2 tickets for the Sunday show right as I called in. And By the power of Grayskull, I snatched those suckers up. They are in row G, center. Our original tickets were in row K, center. Better tickets. Same price. How do you like that? So Ken and I will go sit in row G on Sunday. G for Glad Gophers Golf in Groups. And thank God I got some tickets.
Anyone else who purchased tickets for the Eddie Izzard shows on August 11th & 12th in Seattle via Web / Internet, might want to call the Seattle Rep and double check if you actually got seats. I had a bona fide receipt with an order number, seat numbers...the works. And it wasn't valid. Their box office opens at Noon daily, (206) 443-2222.
